CLOSET BASICS

Hi everyone! I decided to go shopping as I was missing a few basics that are essential to every wardrobe. Basics are cheap so if you need to get some dont worry about spending a lot.

Basic #1- Plain t-shirts
Plain t-shirts seem boring but in winter and fall they become key items to a closet. During the colder seasons, we all like to layer up in scarfs and coats. If your wearing a patterned scarf, the best to pair it with is just a plain black, white or grey t-shirt otherwise theres too much happening in one outfit.

Basic #2- Jeans
Jeans are probably the most popular piece of clothing out there! Jeans are essential in a closet as theyre so easy to throw on and go with absoultely everything. You dont have to go with the basic pair of skinnies, you can always take it up a noch by wearing some mom jeans, boyfriends jeans or even patterned jeans (Just make sure they fit perfectly first).

Basic #3- Leather jacket
This isnt a major key item however its probably the most worn thing in my closet. Leather jackets can be worn in so many different styles whether your a girly girl or prefer to have a little bit of edge, they still look good.

Basic #4- Jumpsuit/Two peice
If your running late in the morning and struggling to find an outfit that doesn't look like you've just rolled out of bed, then a jumpsuit/two-peice is what you need. Two peices are so easy to put together because they've already done it for you, all you have to do is find some shoes and off you go. Jumpsuits are just the same however in the winter I like to pair a Jumpsuit with a crop top, some tights and a scarf just too keep myself warm but still look like I spent hours putting it together.

Basic #5- Shoes
Shoes are clearly a key item, you wouldnt go anywhere without them. However different shoes are needed for different seasons, during winter I reccomend getting some boots (NOT suede). They can be comfortable flats or if you want to take it further, maybe invest in some knee high boots. This way your shoes keep your legs warm even if your wearing a dress.

Basic #6- Handbag
I have a habit of carrying around things that aren't really neccesary, so one of my key closet basics is a handbag that fits in everything you need. Ecspecially if your a college student like me, who needs to carry around books aswell as a few makeup touch ups.

So thats all my closet basics, all of these you can find in the high street. If you liked this post and want me to do more like this comment below or give it a thumbs up. Big kiss! S.

WHO'S YOUR STRIPE ICON? | Featuring Farfetch.com

Hi everyone! You might remember me saying or if you follow me on Instagram (@SkylarLivell) you would have seen that I recently went to London Fashion Week, to watch a trend catwalk. One of the trends featured were stripes and they had some really nice pieces, some of which I'm still tracking down.

Stripes are definitely a timeless trend, they have been around for a long time now. So once again, Farfetch.com and I have come together to provide you with some timely assistance...

FRANÇOISE HARDY

Since Elvis Presley donned black and white for Jailhouse Rock, monochrome stripes have been associated with a rebel spirit. And no-one wears them better than Nicolas Ghesquière muse and Sixties pop star Francoise Hardy – queen of the leather jacket.
SS15 Style: Dolce & Gabbana’s set of boxy coats and ruffled skirts give the no-nonsense style a girlish kick, whilst MSGM and Isabel Marant Étoile retain the tomboyish ease of the block stripes.
Wear If: You want to achieve the off-duty glamour of a timeless French style icon.
Wear With: Black flicked eyeliner and boots.

CYNDI LAUPER

She sang about girls wanting to have fun and then about her true colours shining through. She fronted a delicious, jewel toned MAC make-up campaign. Cyndi Lauper really has this rainbow stripe business on lock down, exuding sass and wit with her bright ensembles.

SS15 Style: Valentino’s multi-coloured classics are Rainbow Brite meets The Good Wife’s Alicia Florrick, and the Lauper faithful will swoon for Ashish’s bright, striped sequins.

Wear If: You’re a fashion maverick who wants to get noticed this summer.

Wear With: Ladylike accessories and a ton of confidence.

AUDREY HEPBURN

In 2015 it’s no big deal to wear exquisite, pyjama-esque pieces out in public, but what is shocking is that after Audrey Hepburn modelled a striped, oversized two piece set with such effortless chicness in 1953’s Roman Holiday, it’s taken the look this long to catch on.

SS15 Style: Hepburn’s compatriot, the young Belgian designer Christian Wijnants’s wide, striped trousers are both laidback and powerful, but fans of tailoring will love the way Aquilano. Rimondi’s easy stripes liven up smart pieces.

Wear If: You like to make a fashion statement without compromising on comfort.

Wear With: Heels and a good blow dry.

If you liked any of these pieces or your feeling inspired, you can find all of them over on Farfetch.com, just click 'Shop the Look'. Comment below which celebrities style do you like the best? And, who's your stripe icon? I personally like Francoise Hardy's style the best, just because I prefer that rebel, tomboy kind of look. Anyway, thank you to Farfetch for all the infographic and I hope you liked this post. Don't forget to check out Farfetch.com and I'll see you soon with another post. Big kiss! S.

EMPTIES #1 | Skincare, Body products..!

Hi everyone! I have had this box full of empty products on my fireplace for a long time now - life of a blogger.  So I thought it was about time to do an empties post so I can finally clean out the box and throw all the empty products away. I have accumulated a lot of empty products over the past few months so I'm going to go through them as quickly as I can.

All of these empties are beauty related so I'm going to start of with skincare. The first being Origins 'Drink up intensive overnight mask'. I love this product, It makes my skin feel/look healthy, It's not greasy so It doesn't stick to your pillow during the night and the smell is absolutely incredible! I personally think it smells of olives but the website claims it's Japanese seaweed. It's just really fresh and helps you sleep at night because its a very relaxing smell. Plus you only have to apply it twice a week so if your really busy or just forget a lot of the time like I do, its perfect for you.

This next product I took on holiday to Cyprus with me, it is the Avene 'Thermal Spring Water'. Once again, I love this product, it's an all rounder. You can use it to set makeup, on rashes, sunburn, razor burns, after exercise...everything. When I was in Cyprus I used this on my feet/hands as well as my face because I get bad heat rashes and this just helped cool them down. I'm definitely going to get another bottle of this, possibly the BIG bottle because it just comes in handy with EVERYTHING!!

The next empty is the Liz Earle 'Cleanse & Polish hot cloth cleanser'. I'm not going to go into any detail because I plan on doing a whole post on this product so I'm just going to say, this product is a life saver!

I have just finished using the 'pepta-bright' by Indeed laboratories and I am still undecided. This product is supposed to help even skin tone and get rid of dark spots, which i have loads of, but I haven't noticed any difference. It costed me £30 for the biggest size which is only 30ml so I'm deciding whether it's worth getting again or not.

Another product i'm undecided about is the Body shop's 'wonderblur'. It is only a tester but you don't need lots because a little goes a long way. Its supposed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and pores but its not working for me. I think I'm just going to stick with my 'Porefessional primer' by Benefit.

I am a Lush addict so of course the next three products are all from Lush, they are the 'Rub, rub, rub shower scrub', the 'Snow fairy limited edition shower gel' and the 'So white limited edition shower gel'. All of these have been mentioned in a favourites post. I have already purchased the biggest version of Snow fairy shower gel because I love the smell. What I like about Lush, is that the smell lasts for days, not just hours after using it so a perfume really isn't needed and they're products are so cheap.

Lastly for skincare, is the Johnson's 'make up be gone, moisturising wipes for dry skin'. I feel like i don't talk about makeup wipes enough, they're so quick and easy to use if your feeling lazy and can't be asked to use a cleanser. These ones I just picked up in my local shop because i ran out and these seemed like a good choice. I don't like to spend a lot on makeup wipes because you only use them once so these were only £1 but they remove everything, including waterproof mascara. They are also very moisturising so Im glad I chose these ones.

This post has gone on for long enough, so I've decided to split it into two different posts. The next empties will be all my hair and makeup products so keep an eye out for that. Hope you liked this post and Ill see you soon with another empties. Big kiss! S.

EMPTIES #2 | Make-up, Hair Care...!

Hi everyone! This post is a continuum from my last empties post, if you haven't read that already, I'll leave a link below. I'm just going to jump into all my make-up and hair care empties because theres a few to get through.

Starting with make-up, the first empty is the 'Collection lasting perfection concealer'. I have been using this concealer for two years now, and I've been through an uncountable amount of bottles.  The good thing is, it is cheap yet it gives good coverage without caking or feeling heavy on the skin.

Another product that has been featured in a favourites post is the 'Barry M matte nail paint' in the shade 'Vanilla'. Im not sure why it's called vanilla because its a dusty, purpley, grey colour but I still love it and I just got my second bottle.

Moving onto hair care, I have just finished using the 'Philip Kingsley Body Building Conditioner'. I got this through my Birchbox monthly subscription and I really like it. It makes my hair feel soft whilst giving it some texture and lift. I would use this on my hair after using another product which is now empty and that is the 'Organics hair therapy rebalancing shampoo'. I also got this through Birchbox and I really like using this. I would spend a few minutes massaging it into my scalp because it genuinely feels so relaxing. Plus, you only need a small amount as a little goes a long way.

This last empties product has been in so many favourites posts and I'm currently using my second bottle. It is the 'Beauty protecter leave in conditioner'! This is honestly so, so good, I cannot describe how good this is! You just spray it on damp hair and it detangles the hair so quickly, leaving it looking soft and healthy.

That is all my empties, I can finally clear out the box and throw the products away. Don't forget to read the first part of these empties as theres a lot more skincare products that I would recommend. Hope you liked this post. Big kiss! S.

BOHEM NAILS REVIEW

Hi everyone! Way back in early February I was sent a lovely gift from Bohem nails. They had sent me two silver nails with a dolphin on, in the size medium. Obviously they emailed me before to find out my nail size as theres a range of small, medium and large. The nails are reusable but I decided not to wear them until a few days ago for London Fashion Week.

London fashion week was an amazing opportunity for me to get a sneak peak into the upcoming trends. I did post a few videos on my Instagram so if you want to have a look, my Instagram username is 'SkylarLivell'. I watched a catwalk featuring a range of designers such as Alexander Wang, Moschino and many more. Being in London an all, I also went shopping on Oxford street and spent a lot more than I intended! Going to London fashion week was actually a birthday gift for myself as my birthday is on the 10th of march - so very soon! I'd had a really good day, not going to lie, my feet were absolutely killing but later on that night I lost one of my nails *Gasps*. I was in a rush to find my train ticket when my nail got caught and came off.  I was really disappointed about it but thank god I found it the next day at the bottom of my bag - Hallelujah.

Back to the nails, I did receive a few compliments on them. Especially from my mum because she's absolutely obsessed with dolphins, so they were perfect. I loved wearing them, that were so comfy on my nails, at one point I actually forgot I was wearing them. There very bohemian and chic yet highly fashionable! Of course, I paired them with my nude, pointy nails in the shade 'Lyeech' from Barry M because I've been obsessed with that colour lately.

These nails are more on the expensive side as they are 925 sterling silver and some are 28 carrot gold plated, but they are totally worth the money and you can wear them as much as you like. I really recommend testing them out for yourselves. Also check out there website, www.bohem.co.uk or their Instagram and twitter accounts (Both @BOHEMnails) to see how to apply them properly and I'll apply a video below. You can even purchase the nails off amazon.co.uk as well if you like. I absolutely love the packaging! They come in a cool black window box with a nail buffer, polishing cloth and 12 x super-strong adhesive tabs. Plus an application guide.

Bohem nails have become a current trend, people such as Jenna Marbles, Ami Carmine and many more have been seen wearing them. I recommend buying them, they come in all shapes and sizes and I'm thinking of getting another pair. I hope you liked this post and hopefully its encouraged you to try out some Bohem nails. Big kiss! S.

HAUL! - London Fashion Week Edition | Forever21, Selfridges, Victoria Secret & More...

Hi everyone! Hope your all well? If you follow me on Instagram & Twitter you'll know that I recently went to London fashion week to watch a catwalk featuring Moschino, Alexander Wang and other designers. As I was in London and my birthday is only a week away, I took this as an opportunity to go shopping in Oxford street. I did accumulate a lot so I'm not going to go into much detail as you'll be here, reading this for hours.

The first shop I went to was Forever21. We were in a rush as we only had a few minutes to get to the catwalk so I shoved a pair of pointed, black flats for £19 and a grey jersey for £12 into my shopping bag. These were the only two items that caught my eye as we didn't have long but I really love them.

After Forever21 we went into Victoria secret to look for some gym wear and underwear. I ended up purchasing some grey knickers and two grey bras/bralettes. The grey knickers have a black band running along the top, a lot like calvin klein's underwear, but instead saying 'pink' across it. And, the bralettes are also grey with a thicker black band at the bottom also with the word 'pink' running across. I got them in a size small and medium each for £17.50.

After that we got a London taxi to somerset house were London fashion week was being held. I got a grey tote bag filled with goodies. In my tote bag I received a 'Hello fresh' £25 gift voucher, a Maybelline cat eyes mascara, some hair protein spray by label.m, some Garnier micellar cleansing wipes, some kleenex tissues, some espresso from Lavazza, a blue essie nail polish in 'strut your stuff', a baileys chocolate bar and finally some mango snacks by Urban Fruit. And, can't forget the 'Hello' monthly fashion magazine.

We decided to go back to Oxford Street for more shopping so I went into H&M, were I bought a grey bodycon dress that has like a crop top attached for £12.99. Have you noticed the grey colour scheme yet?

After that we went into Selfridges were I purchased the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette for £49.

The last shop I went into was Urban Outfitters. Not going to lie, don't think I'm going to shop there again...(probably will). Long story short, I looked around for an hour to find out my discount code doesn't work till the next day, so then I had to put something back as we could only pay on card but my card didn't have enough. So I had to wait an hour for my money to be put back on my card so I couldn't use it and then my mum had to pay for the items with the train and food money for the journey back.
Anyway after all the hassle, I came out with some black Calvin Klein knickers for £19 and another jersey but in a tawny pink for £15. Then, when I got back to the train station the Urban Outfitters bag broke, dropping all my items on the floor.

All in all it was a successful shop, an amazing day. London fashion week was a great experience and I can't wait for Oxford fashion week which I will also be attending. I hope you liked this post, I tried to get through the items as quick as I could. Let me know if you prefer long posts or short posts? Big kiss! S.

FEBRUARY FAVOURITES!

Hi Everyone! February is almost over so I thought I'd give you a run down of everything I've been loving this month. There's a miss-mash of beauty, fashion & quite a lot of music. I don't usually talk about music which is strange because I'm always listening to it.

There's three artists/albums I've had on repeat this past month, they are all pretty similar as it's my type of music. My absolute favourite has been Florrie! I've always liked her, she's so gorgeous and her voice is amazing. She recently did a remix of Troye Sivan's song 'Happy little pill' and I was hooked on it instantly, it's so good. The other two artist's/albums I've been loving is ODESZA and Oliver Nelson. There pretty similar, they both remix songs and I really like some of the beats they come up with.

Moving onto Beauty, this whole month I've honestly worn the same nail polish. I have repainted them three times but it was always 'Lychee' by Barry M and I'm still wearing it now. I've been loving the polished, nude trend lately and I think it goes with absolutely everything. My nails have also been pointy this month because I really like the bad gal look atm and I think it definitely gives off that bag gal vibe - we've all got to let that bad gal out at one point!

The last time I went into Lush, I was given a free sample of the So white shower gel. I really like the So White bath bomb, it's actually my favourite but this looked pretty scary. I eventually tried it and I'm disappointed I didn't try it earlier as I could of bought the BIG bottle.

Another few Lush products I've been loving is the 'Blackberry' bath bomb and the 'golden wonder' bath bomb. Mainly because I love the colour they turn the bath but also as the smell really relaxes you.

Fashion wise, I have been loving this pink suede coat I got from Missguided. Now, I know what you're thinking, OMG Skylar your wearing colour? Yes, I am! I never wear colour and I don't tend on doing so but I fell in love with this jacket. It's not a bright pink, its very neutral and pastel so It's great just to add colour to an all black outfit. I actually wore this jacket to London Fashion Week and it was perfect because you can dress it up or down so I sort of stayed in the middle.
